Today I am wearing a shirt from The Dinner Garden. The Dinner Garden is a non-profit company on a mission to end hunger in the USA. Their idea is to end hunger through gardening. The founder, Holly Hirshberg , had grown fruits and veggies in her garden for many years and thought she could help out the food shelves by growing more. That idea quickly grew into a plan where families and communities could weather the tough times and reduce or eliminate their reliance on food banks by growing produce themselves.

So, now to help people achieve their gardens she sends packages of seeds all over the country. Even if you have never had a garden you can find info and help on how to do it. You provide the dirt and water and Holly will help you with the rest. 

The Dinner Garden needs your help! You can go to the website and make a donation so they can continue to provide free seeds to anyone who wants them. For $5, The Dinner Garden can send enough seeds to a family to provide produce for seven people for a year!

It is a special day today!! My Daughter turns 13…YIKES!

We’ve got teen! Man…How time flies! It doesn’t seem that long ago when my little girl would fall asleep on my lap and I would carry her to bed and give her  little butterfly kisses. Or  I would look back at her in the car, strapped in her car seat smiling away. Now..no more butterfly kisses and I have to knock to go in to check and see if she has stopped texting her friends and she now rides in the front seat and changes my “talk” radio station to KDWB and the top 40. I couldn’t be a prouder Dad!

The Electric Fetus is hosting a very special concert on Friday, Feb. 26, 7:00 at First Avenue. This concert, a rebirth of sorts, was organized by some of Minnesota’s best local bands as a fundraiser for the store which was badly damaged in the August 2009 tornado. The store went into debt paying for uncovered repairs of extensive structural damage and revenue lost from having 40% of its floor space closed for more than three months.

Some of the best local bands will be performing along with a raffle and silent auction. Tickets in advance are $16 or $20 at the door.
